Who We Are
The Colorado Mountain Club Press is the publishing division of the leading recreation, outdoor education, and conservation organization in the Rocky Mountains. You'll find our books at many bookstores and outdoor retailers throughout Colorado and beyond.
Most of our titles are written and field checked by members of the Colorado Mountain Club, who, like you, are outdoor enthusiasts, dedicated to exploring, preserving, and enjoying the natural world.
The CMC has published content related to outdoor recreation for more than a century. One of our most definitive books, Guide to the Colorado Mountains (or simply "Ormes," as it's affectionately known), is the best-selling Colorado guide of all time, with more than 250,000 copies sold to date. It is now in its 10th edition.
In 2019, CMC Press has more than 65 guidebooks in print, including perennial bestsellers such as The Colorado Trail, The Colorado 14ers: The Best Routes, Classic Colorado Ski Descents, The Best Front Range Hikes, Rocky Mountain Wildflowers, and The Best Denver Hikes. Our Pack Guide series is especially popular, and these conveniently sized and lightweight guidebooks are a common sight on local trails.
CMC Press guidebooks are available for purchase through the CMC Press website, on Bookshop.org, at a variety of bookstores and outdoor retailers nationwide, or in person at the Colorado Mountain Club headquarters in the American Mountaineering Center (710 10th Street, Suite 200, Golden, CO 80401).
Colorado Mountain Club members receive a 20% discount on all CMC Press titles, as well as a 20% discount on titles from the press’s distributor, The Mountaineers Books.
